DIY: Home-made : CNC Machine Project |

This article is in progress.
In order to complete many of my invention aspirations, I've stumbled on a few instructables which venture into a home made construction of a CNC (Computer Numerical Control) machine. I'm going to use this blog aritcle as the documentation process that I follow while I research and construct my very first DIY CNC machine. This and this thread is what got me started. I really love the idea about tackling the construction of building my own stepper motor controller from purchased electrical components. So, building the drivers from scratch like in the first link or something like this kit from HobbyCNC would be great. I'm relatively experienced with soldering my own board components, but full on board design is not something that I've ever tried before. So, this would be a wonderful opportunity to give it a shot and to start to understand how the computer interfaces with a device like a CNC machine. My Goals: - Wood
- Wax
- Foam
- possibly Aluminum
- Scalable - I'd like to start small and work my way up. In other words. I'd like the controller to work with short and long format parts.
I have found the people at the mailing list for the LinuxCNC.org EMC CNC software very very helpful and encouraging. I am posting all of the replies from those guys in this document . |
