28,400+ Fill the Halls of SIGGRAPH Conference
(Los Angeles, CA) - SIGGRAPH 2008, the 35th International Conference on Computer Graphics and Interactive Techniques, announced today that 28,432 (pre-audit) artists, research scientists, gaming experts, developers, filmmakers, students, and academics from 87 countries joined together for the annual conference and exhibition in Los Angeles this week. Plus, more than 230 international companies exhibited - an increase in exhibits from the previous year.
"When we began planning for SIGGRAPH 2008 three years ago, the vision was to enhance the attendee experience and evolve along with the changing needs of the industry," said Jacquelyn Martino, SIGGRAPH 2008 Conference Chair from IBM T.J. Watson Research Center. "The result was a dynamic, multi-sensory, and cutting-edge event."

"The Art of Proposal Writing" Course Slides Available Online
At SIGGRAPH 2008, Steve Cunningham, Lawrence Rosenblum and Mike McGrath offered a course titled "The Art of Proposal Writing" organized by Barb Helfer. The slides were not available in time for the SIGGRAPH 2008 CD-ROM, however they are now available.

SIGGRAPH Community mourns the death of Bertram Herzog
Bertram Herzog, dear colleague, cherished friend and brilliant computer scientist has died. A leader and innovator in the SIGGRAPH community for over 30 years, Bertram was instrumental in establishing ACM SIGGRAPH as the world's premier computer graphics professional society and was celebrated during his lifetime with the 2002 Outstanding Service Award to recognize his visionary, technical and managerial contributions to ACM SIGGRAPH.
